I know this will have been covered may times before so sorry for not keeping up!
I haven't paid any attention to the changes in gearing recently as I don't need to change anything. However it recently occurred to me that I never really use my little or big ring. A trip round Inners on Sunday saw me happily plodding along in middle ring the whole way.
I quite like the idea of losing some weight on the bike and keeping things nice and simple. Not bothered enough though to spend much money.
If I want to go to 1x9 or 2x9, what do I need to do? Is it just a case of taking the relevant rings off? IF more is involved, what is the cheap way of doing this?
I've no Idea what ratios my bike has, it is a Genesis Altitude 10 if that helps.
Go get:
1) single ring chainring bolts (they're shorter) £few
2) one of the superstar BB mounted single ring devices £tennerish
Then take the front mech/shifter/rings off, new bolts to get just the middle fitted, fit the device. Boom.
