Im running 34 at the front and 36 large sprocket at the back. Doesnt save that much weight once you've added on a chain device though.
I did it because I rarely used the granny ring or the big ring on 9 spd. When I got 10spd, I thought I could get a slightly lower gear than the 32-32 on the 9 spd but get also higher gear than 1x9.
Also granny ring clearance of the chainring bolt tabs around internal press fit bb shells concerned me a little. Lots of potential for paint scrape-age and grinding.
What is more 'aggressive' about it?

I run a 40t 1x9 but I much prefer the descents. Did the Monkey Trail @ Cannock yesterday and would've been happier with a 38/36 .
cheers guys!
Running: 32T with a 11-34 on my Nomad
34T with a 11-36 on my Solaris
Been running 1 x set-ups for 5+ years now, no need for any more gears for trail centre riding IMO.
I run a 32 on my Soul, been single ring up front for a few years now. Not much difference in weight and I'm Certainally no more aggressive than I was with a double set up.. Just looks a lot better i think.
Trial an error with chainrings, what is on it just now? Do u like the "middle" one? Can you ride all you want on it?
If so.. Use that, if not, get a lesser toothed one.. Simples!
