spent the afternoon converting my wheels to tubeless and can't seem to prevent little bits of washingup liquid froth appearing around the bead. nothing major, just tiny little specs of bubbles. i've shook, i've laid the thing flat, i've shook again, laid flat again... you get the picture!
is this normal or has anyone got any advice?
spec is...
dt4.2 rims with 2 wraps of no tubes yellow tape
no tubes rim strips
kenda small block 8 (new and folding) tyres
1 and a 1/2 scoop of no tubes solution in one tyre, 2 scoops in the other (thought i'd put too little in the first one)
40psi
Roughly how much pressure are you loosing over an hour?
If it's very little then ignore it, the sealant will work it's magic once it's had a good slosh round.
FFIW my Racing Ralphs have taken over a week of being laid flat on either side before holding pressure 100%.
they dropped about 10psi when i checked, but i sloshed them around some more after that and the loss seemed to be less and also rode up and down the road a few times figuring it would all help. i've now left them for the night to see what happens - though not on their side so maybe i'll try that tomorrow. good call!
Sit them flat on one side tonight and on the other side tomorrow, that should do the trick.
Both sets I've done have lost all there pressure overnight untill I've ridden them for a few hours, then they're fine
takes a while for the slight pores in the tyre to fill, after that you should be good.
I now use PTFE spray rather than washing up liquid. Get much better and quicker results.
The foam will eventually stop coming through. Just ride them. Remember to pack a decent pump for the first couple of rides.
Sorry, meanth to say Teflon spray. Even GT85 works.
No idea why but once read it on here and tried it.
Drop them down to about 20 psi and go for a 30 minute ride around the block. this will "massage" the solution ino the tyres and help seal some of the really tiny holes. Works for me.
Cheers, thatss all a great help. The tyres had gone down overnight but after reading the posts I don't feel as bad.

Nice tip, will try it this weekend.
Always satisfying to find another use for GT85.
Worked like a charm.

Sorry wont help you in this instance here but I use always use UST Tyres and they always go up and stay up.They have a much better bead and tyre wall. Good tip with first fitting as mentioned is a short ride round the block after to spread the sealant.
