Has anyone tried it?

My 2005 Reign could do with being slacker and lower and 190mm I2I x 50mm stroke shocks are easy to come by.

Just don't know if it would cause a clash or screw up the axle path.

offset bushings would be cheaper and easier to try out

Hmmm, didn't realise they existed.

Who sells them?

For off-set bushing, see here or Betd apparently supply them too.

I've just got some of those bushes for a 2009 reign.
And it certainly makes a difference to the angles - rides very well.
I did not want to put a fox 36 on the front as that would be a bit overkill.
Although a side effect is the BB is lower - hence pedal strikes. But I'll just get used to where the pedals are (there much lower than my hard tail)

The Athertons used to run a shorter shock on their reigns (2005 ish) with pikes up front. I think they featured in the dvd Earthed 3 or 4 hucking about in their quarry on these. Have you tried talking to Giant about it?
