My bike is a 26er designed for a 170mm fork (2009 giant reign x). I kind of want to get a new fork for it, but want to future proof my cash incase I end up getting a new 650b frame this year or next. Would there be any issues running a 160mm pike in 650b flavour instead of a 170mm/26" lyrik?
No, not that I've found on my Remedy 26er...i run a 650b Pike lowered to 150 in place of 26" 160mm Lyriks: pretty much bang on the same A2C
I run a 160 650b instead of a 170 Lyrik using 26 inch wheels of course.
Whats the A2C measurement for the forks and factor in the wheel size difference, it will either be steeper, slacker or exactly the same.
I don't take the slightest bit of notice about A2C figures etc.
Maybe I should, but I have a 160mm 650b pike on my 26" Mega, and a 150mm 650b Revelation on my 26" Transam hardtail.
Both ride great....
I run a 150mm 27.5 Pike on my 2011 26" Orange five. 10mm longer overall than the previous Revelation. No problems. The slightly increased fork offset compensates for the longer fork so steering is largely unaffected.
Sounds ace guys thanks, got a set of 650bs on the way. a-c is the same on both forks give or take 2-3mm.
Don't forgot to take the fork offset into account.
The head angle will e staying pretty much the same as the A to C is the same but depending on what offset your fork has and what size wheels you put on them you could find you loose some high speed stability.

I run a 160mm pike on my 26 mojo SLR and it is brilliant. Drop the fork to 130mm for climbing to correct the geometry.
As you have already ordered the fork, I've only posted to bookmark this as proof no one has died.
I too am alive after swapping out 26" 150 fox for 27.5" 160 pike duals, love them, agree kevj drop to 130 for climbing
