Hi All,
I have purchased a pair of 160mm Fox forks as my current ones have dome wear on the stanchions.
Will I notice a big difference in position and geometry with the new ones and can I just set a bit more sag to even it up?
Cheers for your help

They are obviously longer which will raise the BBC and slacken the head angle but the over all effect Depends on the frame really, what have you fitted them to?
Also are they 32,34 or 36 as 36 are around 15mm longer.
Theoretically it'll go down a little better and up a little worse but it'll depend on the frame. Either way it won't be a huge difference. I wouldn't overdo the sag just yet. Ride it a bit and see how it feels.
What frame is it? Could be horrible out could be better than before.
Cheers Guys. Is a Canyon Nerve frame and I was just thinking about the consequences before I fit and cut the steerer. I suspect they're may be a way I can reduce the travel if it upsets the bike to much. Forks aren't really my thing!

I recently went from some 140 Magura Thors on my DMR Bolt to some 160 Marzocchi 350CRs. So not only 20mm more travel, but a 650b fork running with 26" tyres. Overall the A-C was about 35mm more.
I was expecting it to be a bit wandery at the front, and to have to take the travel down on the Marzocchis. Weirdly the bike feels just as good the ups (maybe slightly better), and as expected, far more planted on the downs.
So try it, you may be surprised. The forks will hardly ever be at full extension anyway, so the numbers mean less than they do on paper.
I'm sure you could internal mod them to run at 140.
Dogsby I have a Canyon Nerve (Am 2012) too - changed from 26" 150/120 Fox to 27.5" 160/130 Pikes, and its great! Also put 1.5 degree angleset on and a pair of burgtec offset bushes so my geometry has changed...
I agree with ajantom - bike is great down, and with the Pikes at 130 is great up hill too (42 big ring on cassette helps).
So in my frame this was a positive change as bike needed to be a bit slacker with a slightly longer wheelbase, BB is about the same in my before/after estimations
try it and you will see....
The can be spaced down easily to 140 in most of them.
Running a bit more sag will just make them worse for riding, set the fork and the length right rather than bodge it.
I predict Strava humiliation as a result of less than optimal climbs, followed by deep depression, family disappointment/disownment. You will fit in nicely round here ๐
Cheers All,
Looks like the solution is to try them and see!
I'll keep you posted
