Need a frame.. Want it to be fast, fun and chuckable.. Slack and long. Preferably steel or ti..
Mostly for all mountain singletrack, woods playing and a bit of general messing about.
Will be built with 150 revs, and a 1x10 drivetrain..
I know most of the options.. But any particular suggestions, recommendations or ideas are welcome..
What you guys think?

I heard a little whisper that the mk2 Stanton slackline will have a dropper friendly 31.6mm seat tube and 44mm headtube if your in no rush, or there's the ti slackline. 456evo ti is another option. The ti alpine never made full production unfortunately but there's a new steel alpine out soon I believe which will likely fit the bill.
BFe's are nice but with less travel up front - 120/130mm is about right IMO.
Kinda in a rush.. And cheaper is better.. Not on an unlimited budget here.. :/
Thinking a BFe might be nice.. Or a slacklinde.. But it seems a bit steep for flat out stuff..
A Cove stiffee is slack (66 degree HA with a 150mm fork), but the wrong material for you and seemingly not very fashionable these days. Have seem some cheap frames around recently.
I run a 456Ti, so that's what I'd recommend.

I always think steel for a HT not because of fashion.. Or even because its "better" but just because it's more popular with the HT specialists and seems to get more design attention... Also just never liked the Stifee - it lives up to its name IME.. Very stiff.
Looks like I'm gonna go for a second hand BFe in the end.. Found a pretty mint one, for a good price.. Seems like the option. It looks lovely too!

BluePig X with 150mm dual position Rev here. Love it.
Drops to 120mm for longer boring climbs but climbs fine at full length. Descends like a mother, encouraging you to pretty much ride the fork.
Slack, mud/fat tyre capacity, extra gubbins for droppers (30.9), Maxle drop outs but QR available, twangy rear but taut front. I first had a standard steerer Pike in the front and the current fork is tapered.
I gather they're much like the BFe, but less stiff and have a fancier steel (although less popular). Keep your eyes peeled for one before you spash teh cash.
I have a BFe for exactly this, it gets caned on the rough stuff. Mine appears happy with 140 vanillas. A bit wandery on the climbs, so I just lean forward a bit. Excellent on the downs though.

Had a summer season before.. But want something a bit more refined this time.. Less of a hammer, more of a knife.. It was a fun bike, mind.. Would have bought a 456 Evo.. But no stock for 2 months.. And hard to find S/H..
The Blue Pig is nice.. But again.. Hard to get hold of.. And its damn ugly.. Haha!
Gone for a nice s/h gritstone Cotic in the end.. Should fit the bill. Good price, and looks to be the right angles.. And its pretty pimp.. So I'm happy all round. I'll let y'all know how it rides.. Its such a minefield question, as there's so many good options all around the same price, all offering something different and all with an equally loyal band of lovers..
Hopefully this should be a slightly more refined and lighter (but still utterly raggable) bike than my last big HT.. That was a summer season with 55's, huge tyres and a 33lb weight tag. It was fun.. But very, very silly.. Haha!
nickc - give progressive a ring. An email I sent wasnt answered for a long time, turns out it had ended up in the his junk mail, gues he needs to sort that system out. Once in contact, everything is smooth, fast and efficient. The HX1 is a damn good frame.
Dialled Prince Albert is my next frame for thrashing, with 36s up front.

Can't fault my BFE.. taken it on DH days, gravity enduro's, dirt jumps and the XC loop!

Anyone got a direct comparison between the PA suggested and the Bfe?
I've recently built up a BFe for mucking around on and quite like it - took it out for its forst spin in the local woods on short DH runs with jumps and drops.
Mine is built up with older stuff (mainly because that's what I had lying around); 03 Z1's, old school Bulbs on D321's, 1x9 (X9 mech and shifter), Superstar Plasma chain dervice, Race Face cranks, post and stem, Answer bars, new Deore brakes, spoon saddle and High Rollers front and rear. It's an XS small frame (one of the seconds, so was cheap and doesn't have the issue with the weld). If the SX gets some new forks this summer, the BFe may end up with my old 36's on the front.
Its loads more compliant than the original Tazer it replaced but it is a tad heavy...but good fun to ride. I think you'll get on with yours. What spec is yours?

Again.. Lots of money.. I know some of the mentioned frames are lovely.. But in the end.. Your gaining what? Better angles? Nope.. The 456 and Cotic have dialed angles.. Better materials? Well.. 853 is pretty nice.. Lighter? Maybe, but not much. Ride "feel" - very subjective.. So in the end, with AM HT's your often paying extra for nicer finishing, better looks, or a posh name.. Not that the expensive stuff isn't great, or even better than the cheaper stuff.. But its not THAT much better.. So I think I'll be happy with the BFe.. And if not I'll get an Alpine, or a 456, for around the same money.. And I'll be happy with one of them.. ๐
I'd love a Brodie, or a Chromag, or a Lynskey, or a.... Or a... But for me, its just not worth it..

If you find a mk1 cheap on second hand, you can use a cheap TMARS dropper post with the 27.2 seat tube.

Any hardtail with 150mm forks is going to be a bit of a hammer.

I've been riding a DB Alpine for nearly a year now and it's still entertaining.
BTR Ranger very slack (64 with a 120 mm fork!!), low and able to pedal uphill as steep Seat angle, 456 Evo again similar but not as slack HA.
Trouble with Cotic (as picture previously ) is with a big travel fork the seat angle goes too slack, which is why most people reckon the sweet spot for the Cotic Soul or BFE (same HA and SA) is a 120 mm fork

Running 120 recons but tock the test bike out at Whinlatter
They had 140 on it and it was fine with them but won't want to go any bigger
I'd go for the alpine very stiff frames from dialled bikes
Running the PA 1x10, new group set by shaimno (ZEE) with saint rear mech

Compared to a 160mm, 34lb, DH tyre, 63 deg H/A, etc truck like my old Summer Season.. I think this one should be more of a knife..
