I'm looking at purchasing some Fox 32 FLOAT 140 CTD QR15 forks.
Is the ctd damper any good with trail adjust?
Just how much is the compression affected in climb mode, i like a goof firm lock out will I be disappointed. Should I look at other forks, if so what??
Please discuss.....
Buy some new pikes and step them down.
Easier to maintain and will still cost you less than Fox even if getting a specialist to step them down for you.
Welcome Sam, have a look in search for FOX CTD it's been done a lot, plenty of discussions. Some hate, I'm not sure what they are going on about as mine is fine - also there was changes 2013-2014 (2014 should be out now)
The TA only works in Trail mode.
The difference from C,T&D is definite and noticeable on mine.
fox is generally very overpriced
xfusion slant for example is nearly half the price and gets just as better reviews
Got a set of Factory 100mm CTD and really like them. The Climb is nicely firm, the Trail somewhere in the middle (I change it from soft to firm depending on where I'm riding) and the Descend feels plush.
They don't blow through their travel too easily and seem to have really good small bump absorbtion. Not too much brake dive. I like them.
Tapered? Any interest?
I wouldn't consider anything but aadjust fork. I find descend mode just blows through the travel and trail mode is too firm in the standard CTD fork. Been told the TA version should fix those issues.
Daveh what maxle is that mate?
15mm. Email sent ๐
I'm new to the forum and the advice is more than appreciated.
The reason i ask is winstanley made a mess of my last forks DT Swiss xmm 140 (long story!!!) They have offered me a replacement but don't have any xmm's left.
The nearest fork in terms of spec is the fox ctd. I have a 100mm fox with a remote lockout (kashima, 15mm qr) I love the fork !! It has a great firm lockout. I was worried just how much I would miss a proper lockout and would the climb mode be sufficient.

The Climb mode is effectively a lockout. If you like Fox forks then I think you'll get on well with the Float 32 CTD.
