got some aging non boost revelations but with a new frame inbound what's a good trail fork at a reasonable price these days? would probably prefer RockShox but happy to consider anything with a good reputation

The fox rhythms are on chain reaction for £260, had mine over a year and they have been pretty good for me, as will many others who bought from Germany for £180-190

Do you need to go Boost?

If not, I am selling my MRP Stage right now, would fit the bill nicely.

If Boost, then CRC are currently selling Fox 34's and 36's for prices well below what we would pay at trade price anyway!

I'd be looking at the Fox on CRC. Can't imagine you'll find much better for the money and some of the 34's are 130mm.

Or if you want some none boost you can buy my Pikes (Either 120 or 140mm, have the bits for either) that have just been replaced by some CRC 36's!

I had a lovely set of Ohlins RXF34s. Brilliant fork - really really impressed with them.

Yes - have one of the 190 GBP fox rhythm grip forks on my 29er hardtail. This crazy sale was around end of the year 2017.
29er , 130 mm, boost, grip. I love this fork.
On my 27.5" all mountain bike I have a 150 mm fox rhythm grip and recently swapped the fork of my Bossnut V2 and bike the Bossnut with an 150 mm fox fit4. Great fork as well - but would look for grip or grip 2 damper.

Sapphires for sure - the quality on the new boost D1 stuff is stunning. Worth it just to actually get the integrated mudguard not just the holes like with a fox. Anywhere from 100mm to 140.

Well thanks to tdog being so damned insistent i ended up with Sapphires for my Swarf...love them. I've got some FOX fit4's PUSH tuned on my hardtail and they just aren't on the same level as the DVO's.

Tbf though.
The DVO fork box is better quality abd sturdier than the Fox forks themselves.

And me mine... But at £1139, and 140mm+ travel, probably a touch overkill for the OP's requirements!

I approached DVO with a very open mind, had heard mixed things but wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt etc... Trust me... DVO's quality is nowhere near that of Fox's sadly! Far too many horror stories.

MRP however... I've done thousands of off road miles on both the Stage and Ribbon forks over the last few years, not one single issue! Performance has been exemplary (better than anything from Rockshox or Fox arguably until the latest GRIP2 damper turned up at least), and they are just bloody good forks, end of!

Haha. Correct.
But MRP isn't "low cost" either.

Fox Rhythm 29er Grip: you might find one in a sale for around 350 GBP right now. But luck if you find a 130 mm version...

Interesting!
Have heard or read many horror as you put it story of MRPs on mtbr.

Every brand has its limits on quality or limits on how much they can be pushed in various ways like service times, trail useage etc.

I was thinking of speccing MRP on a custom build as only seen good reports so interested in some balance.

My Ohlins RXF 34 much better than the fox 34 fit4 crap they replaced. Best 27.5 forks my BOS Devilles customised with Ohlins RXF34 3way air shaft fitted
