I have a nukeproof mega 2012 frame which uses 135x12 spacing , i recently bought a new wheelset also 135x12 with intentions to fit them to that frame. Due to running into some money , i bought the new nukeproof mega am frame however it is a 142x12 setup. i've bought the conversion kit for 135 , does this mean i can use my old maxle or do i need to buy a new one ?

depends if anything else on the drop outs has changed but I think you should still be a able to use the old maxle.
From what I understand the 142 spacing is simply a notch cut out from the drop out and the hub width increased slightly so the hub has a little shelf to sit on when fitting your wheel. I think the overall width from outer frame edge to outer frame edge is the same.
