I am looking to adapt a 135x12mm hub to fit a regular drop out that can take a 10mm axle. Its a Shimano hub and I'm not sure how straight forward converting it would be with cup and cone bearings etc.
I've seen that both Atomlab and Azonic do a bolt up converter that is essentially a 12mm steel rod with 10mm threaded ends - but I can't find anywhere in the UK that sells them.
Any ideas or suiggestions?
Any local engineering workshop could make one of them for peanuts.
Good point oldnick
Plus that way you don't have to touch/mess up the hub, always a bonus as Shimano hubs seem to keep working fine if you don't touch them.
Always worth getting to know the local engineers, the foreman at a local fabricators used to do little ally welding jobs for me in his lunchbreak for cash "use the back door next time son, no need to bother the office" ๐
I know what you mean about Shimano hubs...
Cheapest option is to buy the same hub but with the correct axle and swap out axles and cones and then sell the hub on
Shimano 12mm hub, almost entirely new, the perfect gift for the cyclist who's got everything ๐
