I have a chain whip that I've had for about 20 years and it's been fine for all my bikes, until now. I have GX Eagle and tried to use my trusty chain whip last night but I couldn't get it to engage with the teeth on the cassette. The cogs are just too closely spaced.

I thought that I've had a good amount of use from this chain whip over the years so have been looking at getting a new one but none of the ones I can see say they are compatible with 12 speed cassette, most don't say anything and some say up to 11 speed. What about us 12 speed guys? Will the 11 speed ones fit ok?

Will it not work on the largest sprocket?

I had exactly this question last week and bought a Park CP-1. It actually comes with 10 speed KMC links on it, but it stated 12 speed support on the website and worked fine for 12 speed Eagle:

Decathlon do one that engages a different way.

It says 7-11 speed but cant work out why it wouldn't do 12 as well, as it has lugs that connect to the cog rather than a bit of chain

Perdos Vice Whip works with 12speed.

You can also replace your chain on your chain whip if you wish.

^^^^ Doh brilliant idea next time I have a chain to dispose of I will take a piece off and change it over then I know it will fit all the cogs not just have to guess which one.

That's fine if you have an 11, 12, 13 or 14 tooth bottom cog, but I have a 10t. 🙁  Does look like a great way of doing it though.
