Hi, my son needs new mtb shoes. He is 11 and now onto size 8 and outgrown his current size 7 five Ten Freerider ELC are bloody excellent, but I cannot find them anymore.

He is pretty solid rider, but I have always thought flats are the way to go so he is getting the right skills etc. I have never worn flats in 30 years of riding so I might be talking out of my axxx..

I dont get the laces on all the available shoes, the ELC mentioned above has a big Velcro flap over the laces which makes sense to me. what do flat pedal riders do and recommend?

always Freeriders.... Girls colours often easier to find in these sizes you need.

Mine has 2 pairs of black and pink... he's cool with it.

Over the years I've tried every type of flat pedal shoe and have always reverted back to Five Ten due to grip and comfort.

Never had a problem with the laces, most of ours have been purchased at race events where Five Ten have had a stand. You can usually pick a pair up at these for around £40.

Loop them long and tuck them into the laces that are across.

They don't make those any more by the looks of it. Was looking not so long ago for a new pair for my eldest.
