Im looking at reducing my road chainset to a 52/36 to help the knees uphill. But cannot find anything in 10speed guise. Dont want a compact as i had one before and was changing a lot between the large and small chainring.
Anyone know if the 11 speed 52/36 crankset will work fine with 10sp ?
Ta.
Yes it is fine. My 10 speed TT bike came brand new with a Shimano 5800 11 speed chainset.
I think someone I know just bought some new chainrings 52/36 and fitted them to a 10 speed chainset. I think they may have been Praxis?
Id prefer to buy just the chainrings to be honest rather than the whole chainset.
Praxis Works do a 52/36 chainring set for 110bcd compact chainsets.
Depends what chainset you're already running...and a quick google suggests its £100+ for the two rings - so you could buy new 105 for that. Or nearly Ultegra.
If it's an older style standard 130BCD you won't be able to go below 38t...
11 speed rings will work fine with 10 speed. You might be able to replace the chain rings, but it depends on the BCD of your current chainset. I don't think you can go below 38t on 130BCD, but there are loads of options for 110BCD.
Ok thanks, will go for a new 11speed chainset then.
