[#7137283]

My 105 STI won't shift up, the lever (the big 'up' one) won't move. It started after i tried shifting up and the cable popped out of the front mech. There's lots of posts online about down shifting problems, but i can't find any advice about shifting up.

Any ideas?

Has the cable dislodged inside the shifter so the nipple end has got stuck in the works?

had similar a few weeks back and the thread in the inline adjuster had snapped - though this was obvious when cable removed so not much help I guess

possibly useful link here if feeling like fettling - how to strip down 105 STI's

does it down shift with the cable out ?
was the cable in perfect condition at the nipple when you took it out ?

the down shift lever moves, but as it can't shift up its in the lowest setting. Yes, cable was completely fine

What version of 105 is it? The 5600 had widely reported issues where cog teeth would break off inside the shifter and it wouldn't work anymore.

If it's 5700 then ignore me

was going to offer a test for lowest, but if you've got the cable out
it has to be lowest.
In which case sounds more like ratchet failure as gypsum pointed out.
