Hi Guys

Thinking abouit updgrading my GFs hardtail to a 100mm travel full suspension frame. It has some nice 100mm RS Rebas (2010's so can't be up'd to 120mm).

Would be looking for something 2nd hand (16-17") but not sure what frames to be looking at. Have been considering a Giant Anthem or older Trance (100mm obviously).

What other frames should I be looking at?

Cheers, steve

anthem x for pedalling efficiency - you wouldn't want your gf wimping out on rides 'cos they are too hard...

IIRC old Trances are a bit on the weight side, not overly, but it's a consideration for a light full susser.
SC Superlight/Juliana should be in the mix too, and even the old shape Marin Mount Vision (07/08) should be considered, as there great frames, very light (the later/last ones at least) and good suspension design.

+1 for Marin.

Also, Yeti ASR (carbon?) or Titus Racer-X, depends on budget really.

I heart my 2010 anthem x4. check out the reviews on the googles. only change I made later was to upgrade to XT chain set. It just takes all you can through at it and is soooo fast.

The 2011 version is even cooler with the curved angles.

anthem X for also not having to faff around with propedal to compensate for an old suspension design...

Exactly the same as if buying a whole bike...

Epic (the Evo recommended above is exactly the same frame as the 'normal' alu ones, just with a longer fork and a dropper post)
Top Fuel
Spark
Anthem
ASR-SL
Superlight
Blur XC

etc etc

I'd not rule out buying a full bike and flogging the bits you don't need, frames often command high prices IMO, more relevant if you're thinking of buying new, where manufacturers tend only to sell their top end frames, but even so.

a few of those above require propedal fiddling...

Merida 96. I've ridden both the carbon and alloy versions and they all pedal well and give a very smooth ride without any need for propedal fiddling.
