Yesterday, added 20 miles to the road bike commute home after work, lovely and warm.
Today, I knew it was going to be a busy day, so 45 minutes on the rower before breakfast as 'insurance' in case I didn't get done in time to ride in the evening, and right enough, ran out of daylight, so glad I did that.
A bit dull doing steady rows and steady short miles on the bike, but I'm feeling fitter already and really don't want to provoke the old injury so will keep like this for a few weeks more I think.
On the Oxford canal yesterday - Wolvercote down to where the canal finishes in the city centre - really enjoying the kayaking, it has the meditative rhythmic motion that walking does but without the sore feet or tripping over.
Parkrun this morning in the dog with the dog.
Just a walk today, feeling a bit weary. Maybe try some stretching and foam rolling later.
A group swim in Loch Vaa, including Mrs Piemonster, who was very excited at locating the crannog. It's barely under the surface at the moment so water level in the loch has dropped around 6cm in a week, despite some recent rainfall.
Couple of hours hard gardening and a hike yesterday.May swing a few weights later if the body is willing.Wouldn't an Indian summer lasting till Xmas be nice.Fingers crossed.
Day 24 (Saturday): 25 miles on the road bike in the morning, 45 minutes rower in the afternoon.
Was a beautiful morning for a ride, adding the extra 5 miles meant I could do a different loop through nicer countrside which was a nice change. Injury seemed to cope with the little extra distance, so hopefully it will last. Wind got a bit chilly on the way back as it swung to coming from the north. Might be the last ride in shorts and short-finger gloves for a while.
Day off from chub club, so recovery malbec shortly.
20 miles on the slippy, manky local trails on the ebike this afternoon. I'm thoroughly sold on riding in trousers now. 😄
Just squeezed in about an hour's walk. Ride tmrow for a decent effort.
Oh I so nearly bailed this evening. Just CBA - but stubbornness won through. Nicole saved me! This is quite a nice one actually
I'd fail at that first crossed leg position! 😆
Well after a week of additional dog walks to get me through the non covidy fug of a cold that I've just had I rode a bike again today. I won't be riding mtb this weekend as my upper body still hasn't recovered from hitting concrete, but I can do sit ups again. Another easyish day on the bike tomorrow ..
Feeling loads better, thanks for everyone giving me a pep talk last week when I first got ill.
Steve
30 minute run with the brother in law through the woods, after a day out with the family at London zoo. Prior to going out for beers and food.
Lovely ride out of Stinchar Bridge over Cornish Hill to Tunskeen bothy and back today, while the bairn was horseriding and wife sleeping off a nightshift.
25 down, 75 to go....
Zwift this morning and a bike with the lad this afternoon
Couple of windy, sunny hours on the road bike. Really would like my legs and lungs to stop feeling like s**t. However HR was a bit more sensible for a change, so maybe there is progress.
Lack of a washing machine ahead of a kitchen refit has meant yesterday's catch up ride with a mate will be my last ride for a week or two, so I missed today's beautiful sunny weather. Did get a decent hours walk in though, so more of that and some YouTube yoga for the foreseeable.
I started over last week having failed on Monday, so Day 6 for me. Quite fancy seeing if I really can do 100 consecutive days.
Super pics nobeer!
Parkrun in the fog with the dog yesterday.
Group ride today, flat but (by my superslack standards) brisk - had cake because I could see the return journey being v tiring and tiresome otherwise.
Day 25: Very tired, and very busy, so decided to sack off the planned cardio. Instead, I did some body weight and kettlebell exercises (press-ups, goblet squats, lunges, swings, crunches, plank, bird-dog) - 3 sets of each. Then some of the physio exercises. Almost 30 minutes in total, muscles certainly feeling it though, so good value I guess.
140 minutes at my local outdoor gym in the warm October sunshine.33 minutes each on the push up and pull down machines.160 sit ups(sort of) and 160 dips, which my righthand side shoulder doesn't seem to be enjoying.
I now need to wear a size large hoody(more due to extra scoffing rather than muscles). My 58 year old body is starting to creek under the strain.Hopefully,it will hold out till Christmas.
Really couldnae be arsed today. That, and some competing priorities. However, I had to relocate my Zwift setup so I did a couple of wee sessions on that this evening. Hope to garner some more enthusiasm...
If you don't have enthusiasm, the rest of us are doomed!. 😆
Friday: 50 minutes bicycle trials in back garden again. DOMs sound shoulder blade area. HR too eager to go high. body not willing. might have done more yoga in evening can't remember!
Saturday: 5.7 mile run. last stretch felt a bit long. another late night.
Sunday ride off road to parents , 14 miles, 1.5hr, some pauses in pedaling for some elementary trials moves. tired. sore throat and sniffles begin.
@scotroutes - you’ve got a lot going on atm with your Mrs. Be kind to yourself. Hopefully some exercise gives you some head space though.
@sirromj - oh dear. Good luck.
Saturday was a 20k local spin with the eldest, unbelievably warm.
Yesterday was a near 7 hour outing, Ben a'Bhuird and Ben Avon, quite a bit colder 😉

I think it'll be just a walk tonight or maybe a gentle gravel spin...
Weights on Friday but the whole weekend was lost to work on the house. Going to count it as was up and down scaffolding for 12 hours each day but getting seriously pissed off with it now.
Monday - ride from home down towards Holmesfield/Barlow
Tuesday - bit of a run in the rain
Wednesday - off road commute back from work over Froggatt/Curbar
Thursday - return to work on commute bike
Friday - off to Dales after work so got up a bit earlier and had a short walk
Saturday - other half doing the 3 peaks fell race so I mountain biked, making sure I timed it to avoid being in trouble for missing the finish!

after ride dumped bike and walked along river to the race site - found this beast languishing in a farm I passed

Sunday - we both went for a steady mountain bike ride before heading home. A tour of Pen Y Gent, weather a lot better.

Nice pictures mate.
How are all the long covid folks doing?I know Ahsat got ill last year but seems to be doing ok.I wish this flipping virus would go do one.
PS Is munro OK?He seems to have disappeared. Not that posting is compulsory of course.
It is very nice in the Dales which makes photo taking easier, the Scottish photos further up the thread are definitely making me keen to head further north.
I hope everyone else is doing OK too.

Aye, we had a cracker of a day yesterday. I feel guilty for not being in the hills more during the summer months but life just seemed to get in the way. Hopefully we'll all get a good few more sunny days yet though.
The lurgy has finally got me properly. This always happens at the end of my racing/ focus season. I’ll have to add on a couple of days, or does starting early count?
Hoping I’m better to mtb to work on Wednesday and ride ronde von chinley course route on Thursday
Last week I had a few zwift rides, got out on the mtb once for a few hours, did a few kettlebell workouts and had a couple of more relaxed days of dancing with mini 10. Staying focused on this challenge is helping me with some other issues going on. So it's been beneficial.
Today was a good day.
Mrs S hasn't been in to Loch Ossian since we backpacked in 30 years ago. Today was a wee train trip from Tulloch, lunch at the station, then a short walk to the loch before heading back for cake and the return train. Absolutely great to get her back into this wonderful place and out of the Strath for a change.
The mighty venison casserole...
(that blood orange San Pellegrino looks suspiciously like the stuff they've been pumping into her arm 🙂 )
If you've got legs...
and I don't even have my winter beard yet.
Good stuff Colin.
Nothing so grand here, I've taken to doing laps off the Roslin Science centre at lunch time instead of walking. Feels like a real like version of Zwift - brain out, turn the pedals for 45 minutes.
Mrs is recovering from a bad bout of plantar fasciaitis, finally getting back out running, had a lovely wee 5k with her tonight.
Magic, love running with her.
nobeer - has she made any changes to footwear/insoles etc?
Aye Colin, she went to see a physio, guy has a very good reputation, used to be Rangers team physio and all the local running clubs seem to use him.
He gave her a set of exercises to do, and one of the physios on her ward recommended some insoles, really cheap ones from amazon tbh, and between this and the exercises, she's improving very well.
Pretty sure 12.5hr shifts on her feet dinnae help.
Nice one Scotroutes

I’m ok though tiredness, and lack of power/energy is still a bit of a challenge. I am able to get out and about - just don’t feel brilliant (legs heavy and lungs restricted) and takes time to recover. However it’s better than nowt. Thanks for asking.
Lovely sunset walk for an hour this evening. It was supposed to be gym but my lower back has been playing up all day, so a walk seemed more sensible.
This challenge has been great, though its made me realise I've lost a fair bit of fitness over the last 6 months.
Inspired me to rejoin my old running club, get back into some proper training.
Run in the woods with the brother in law on Saturday then some walking on Sunday after drinking far too much on Saturday night.
A slow 10k run to start the week after work today.
Took it easy on the commutes today, shortest routes, snotty yoga this evening! Will be lunch time walk tomorrow... with the secateurs for trimming a few rogue bramble branches.
If there's one negative thing, it's all the bare chested guys I now get in my suggestions on youtube.
Zwifted yesterday and managed to squeeze in a token extended walk back from the pizza restaurant tonight. Visiting relatives in London so had a long drive down and don't feel too guilty about the tick box walk.
Another chilled 5k wi the wife. 😇
Well the off-road commute ended up being both ways, thanks to the delights of northern rail! 25 miles was slightly more than planned around a full working day! Thank goodness for that new exposure light!
