Enjoyed 10@Kirroughtree this year - cracking course. What is the forum consensus on what is the better course / event?

i like the kirroughtree course better, but 10 under the ben has a better location and atmosphere.

Even though it was my first year doing solos,Kirroughtree still felt like a race when 10 Under sometimes felt more like a slog .

Hmm, it sounds like a toughie. Think I'll go with whatever fits best in the calendar. Thanks for the answers.

There's only one complaint I can level at 10UTB/Relentless- that bloody flat/slightly uphill singletrack drag at the far end of the course after the first short section of techie singletrack. It's balls. It never used to be in the course, it could be taken out and I wish it was.

KTree course has more technical riding - harder to solo I'd reckon as it doesn't have the easier fire road sections of 10UTB.
Both are great though.

Kirroughtree is an ace event - done it the last 3 years and enjoyed even this years mud lark despite only just having had a hand op. Persuaded a group of other Manx Mountain Bike Club stalwarts to go and got a 4th and 6th overall. Praying for better weather...

Oh and i think my brother and i were first entries this year! The finishing section alone is worth the preceding 7 miles...

I think KT has a smaller turnout which could mean less atmosphere but ought to mean less queuing. Assuming for the moment that you're not a superhuman like Raddogair, the sheer volume of traffic meant a lot of jams on the first lap for most folks. But it was a lovely course, the world cup XC descent is good as it is then they add the offpiste/offmap stuff which really livens things up. Yes there's a bit of horrible fire road but that's racing I guess.

Clincher for me was that going all the way to kirroughtree and not doing McMoab and Talnotry Hill just seemed insane  Whereas 10UTB gets most of the best XC riding into the route.

KTree course has more technical riding

Does the course follow some new track not on the existing trail centre route? KTree is the most bland and least technical riding I have ever had to experience.

Saying that I'm going to do both of these next year so I guess I will have to suffer the place yet again 🙂

No Moray this year by the looks of it, hence the omission.

Did like the Kirroughtree course last year, good mix of fast red singletrack and off piste rooty sections just wanted to make sure the Ben wouldn't be a disappointment in comparison. Seems either should be ace. Ta!

Moray was rubbish sorry, 500 metres of good track in a fireroad double track smooth fest of tedium.

Good on No Fuss for taking their show on the road.

It doesn't follow the whole red route no - theres a few rooty sections that go through the woods which aren't harpack like the rest of the trail - I'd imagine these get pretty 'technical' when its wet 😉

Ach, i like moray- it was a bit of variety in the series, fast flowy singletrack trails rather than the climbs and nadge of Fort Bill.

The British XC series could learn a lot from the variety of the No Fuss events...

Moray may still be on, and its omission from the newsletter is due to unresolved issues with certain agencies who have to agree to allow the event, nothing to do with cash.
hels - that's not a fair reflection of the course at all.

I've done quite a few of the 10 events, starting with the very first 10 under. The midges, oh my lord, the midges. Anyway, this year was the first time I've gotten around to doing all three and I'd rate the courses as 1st Moray, 2nd Kirroughtree and 3rd Ft Bill. The amount of draggy fireroad around the Ft Bill course is just demoralising. Kirroughtree is much better, with loads of fun singletrack, mixed in with the man-made stuff, but for sheer, root-tastic lovelyness. The final descent at Moray takes it in my opinion.

KT was extremely good this year.

At the end of the day, they're all events on courses that try to cater for the numbers and the fact you've got old folk like me slogging it round solo along with whippets in teams of 4 riding up my arse all day shouting "race leader" like a boy racer after too much red bull!

Anyway, they're all very good, so enter them all 😀

Just need more medics at KT next year 😯

I like Moray. It's a good course, just different to the other two.

I always enjoy Moray.

Quieter than the others but lovely course and great atmosphere.

Would be disappointed if the issues that Devs is talking about weren't resolved.

KT is the better ride, no doubt about it. Fort Bill definitely has the better atmosphere and size!

KT Black route is the best trail centre ride I've ridden, full stop!

My first year on a bike. Roots at Billy, Rocks at Tree and a very close relationship with one particular tree at TUB. Then I did spent a lot of the time at Tree on the deck also. TUB was a kick in the nuts, T@K was a kick in the nuts with free weather thrown in (nice one NO FUSS), and Morey well my nuts were numb by then but I'm sure it still hurt!! Can't wait for next year!!
