Not done it before. If we're taking a transit van full of kit and parkin/camping at the auction mart, will that be our base? Or will others be setting up Pits nearer the start?

If you're in a van it will make sense for you to pitch up in the car park (I believe this is still allowed). It is still a viable base if the route is the same as previous years but will be a way away from the changeover area. No fuss are generally fine with you changing over wherever suits you though.

Route this year passes next to main carpark and auction mart, so you can put your pits wherever suits.
No overnighting allowed in the main car park though.
As munrobiker said, lap changeovers can also happen wherever suits.
