Guys,
I ride a 2014 zesty 527. I'm running 1×10 (xt double chainset with 32 nw superstar single upfront and 11-36 bringing up the rear)
Gears 2-10 are fine, 1st gear (36t on rear cassette) is were the problems start. I can engage the gear fine, but when rotating you can hear the chain engaging the nw chainring under duress (not smooth) then rotate anticlockwise (reverse pedal) and the chain sucks back down the cassette. No spacers fitted to the chainset.
Any ideas?
I know of a few people running ss rings and them being noisy.
What BB spacers do you have? I have an XT double crank and moved the BB spacer from the DS to the NDS, which is a 2.5mm shift to the left, then used 2mm spacers on the chainring bolts - a 4.5mm shift left in total, and this works just fine.
Pressfit bb mate so no spacers there, 2mm spacers on the chainring bolts sounds like and idea. Where did you get them?

You might need slightly longer bolts too, I got 8.5mm Blackspire ones from CRC.
Brilliant thanks
