Sorry to ask about this topic again but I really would appreciate some advice.

I have a sram/Truvativ crankset with push fit bottom bracket and direct mount front mech. I want to switch to 1 x 10 and have been given an unramped shimano saint chainring that I'd like to use. Questions:
1) Are the Sram/Truvativ crankset and new chainring compatible?
2) If not, I have an XT crankset that should work but will that mean I'd need to change the bottom bracket?
3) With the unramped chainring will I need a chain guide? If so, any recommendations given my bottom bracket and front mech, or should I just keep the front mech on with the limit screws adjusted to fix the position?

Hope you can help.

Maybe someone has the answer to one of these questions?

1. Yes if the chainring fits on them
2. Don't know, check the internal diameter of the Bb and external diameter of crank axle, or look at sheldon brown website
3. You'll need a chain device, there are loads, superstar are cheap(ish) and work

1. If it's a triple crankset, it should be ok. The double uses it's own ring size.
2. Don't know.
3. You get what you pay for. E13 make a direct mount XCX. I have a seat tube version & it has been faultless.
