Long story short the wife got a boardman fi on the bike to work scheme then the other day rode my pitch and decided that she finds my pitch loads more stable and nicer to ride as it larger so now wants a bigger better bike.
So basically I was looking at short travel frames to build up for her from her boardman bike (bit dodge I know) and found a Commencal Meta 4.1 on ebay and was wondering what they are like as I know bugger all about them.
If its naff can anyone recommend alternatives that arent mentally expensive.

Meta 4 cross is a good bet, prophet or pitch, remedy or fuel. ( I really rate the fuel as a great all rounder)
forgive my ignorance but is the meta 4 cross the same as the 4.1? I found a review on it and it claims to be very good just a bit hard finding the sizing for the 2008 model.
Pitch rocks and I am watching a trek remedy on ebay too thing is im a bit tight a dont wont to spend loads on a new frame so was hoping for a secondhand job and the meta 4.1 has a starting price of £250 with no bids which I thought was good.
I got a 2009 large FSR XC off here for £190 and it's fantastic, maybe just watch the classifieds to see if a small one pops up? really stable and fairly easy to ride.
Yeah i'm watching, not a lot seems to crop up though in a small and the female specific jobs seem really overpriced for a midget frame, saw a 2007 orange 5 diva go for a lot the other day (was nice tho)
Well not a FSR for sure I have one at home and it doesn't work as well as a meta 4.
To be fair, there is very few bikes that will work as well as the meta. Dawg, orange 5, Scott genius and cadabra are about the closest I can think of (all from mainstream, never had a change to try more niche bikes).
If it's a small and it fits your wife, I'll buy it right now...
I would had that the bike works even better with 120 130 mm fork on the front.

I'm a 5'8 girl and I've been riding a Commencal combi S (2008) for the last 3 years. I got a Small frame because it was my first bike and I wanted something to build confidence etc. I've ridden most red and black routes in the north east and seven stanes on it and loved it!
Would thoroughly recommend the meta 4 frame, Ive just got a new bike and I'm going to be gutted to see mine go 🙁
How much was the one on eBay for out of interest?
