Introducing Singletrack Credits: earn as you ride with us

New for Singletrack members

Get paid to do what you already do here — but subscribers earn double.

Singletrack Credits reward you for reading, posting and being part of the community. Everyone can collect them — only Full Members earn at 2× and can spend them.

100 Credits = £1 · real money off the shop & your renewal

Here’s the honest pitch: free members collect Credits, but only Full Members can turn them into money. Subscribers earn at twice the rate, unlock loyalty bonuses worth £5.50 in year one, and are the only ones who can spend what they’ve earned. The more you ride with us, the more it’s worth — and the maths always favours subscribing.

Collect Credits at the standard rate — and watch them add up. But Credits can only be spent by subscribers, and you’ll never see the loyalty bonuses. Your balance is a running tally of what you’d be banking as a Full Member.

£5.50in your first year, guaranteed
A Full Member banks 250 Credits the day they subscribe and 25 more every month in loyalty — that’s 550 Credits (£5.50) in year one before you’ve read a single article. Every renewal then adds 500 (£5), so it’s £8 a year after that. Everything else stacks on top.

Spend it — automatically Full Members

Money off, automatically

Convert Credits to store credit from just 100 Credits (£1). It applies itself at checkout — up to 25% off shop orders and 25% off your renewal. No codes, no faff.

In whole pounds, whenever

Convert in £1 steps whenever your balance allows. Your store credit is good for 18 months, and any balance you don’t use rolls straight over to your next order.

Ready to earn double?

Subscribe, bank your 250-Credit welcome bonus, and start turning every read, post and like into real money off.

The fair-play bit: Credits reward genuine engagement, so daily earning limits apply (free members up to 50 Credits/day, Full Members up to 300/day) and each action has its own cap to keep things fair. 100 Credits = £1. Earned Credits stay valid for 13 months; once converted, your store credit lasts 18 months. Spending is a Full Member benefit. Values shown reflect the current launch tariff and may be adjusted over time.

Singletrack Owner/Publisher

Mark has been riding mountain bikes for over 30 years and co-owns Singletrack, where he's been publisher for 25 years. While his official title might be Managing Director, his actual job description is "whatever needs doing" – from wrangling finances and keeping the lights on to occasionally remembering to ride bikes for fun rather than just work. He's seen the sport evolve from rigid forks to whatever madness the industry dreams up next, and he's still not entirely sure what "gravel" is. When he's not buried in spreadsheets or chasing late invoices, he's probably thinking about his next ride.

  1. Got the e-mail this morning. Seems quite a generous scheme if I’m honest, I’m surprised each nugget of engagement is sufficient to fund this and still make some profit. Assuming this is only a couple of days old, I’m already up to 34p.

  2. Also there are limits set on how much you can earn/day. And limits on how much of an order can be discounted. At launch you can use vouchers for up to 25% of any order in our shop.

  3. I like that.  Particularly cool that you can gift points to others. I can imagine a scenario where a member is having a tough time or does something useful for others and we crowdfund enough points to offset their subs or buy them some merch.  Nice one.

  4. I’m not sure the maths are working correctly at the moment. e.g. I’m a subscriber but have only been given 3 credits for starting a thread, according to the table should be 6.

  5. Applaud new things but for me this doesn’t appeal, nor can I see how this will help long term.
Seeing what I’m missing out on as someone with a lapsed sub (a small reduction in sub costs or a discount on stuff I don’t want to buy from the shop) won’t make me want to resubscribe.
What would make me subscribe again:
    1. a website that doesn’t have the very numerous glitches that STW has developed over the years
    2. more content that ISN’T user generated, but is relevant. Eg fgf is a pale imitation of what it used to be. Reviews are sparse compared to bygone years. A lot of articles are rehashed press releases or posted after threads generated on the forum (that then get locked to drive posts to the main website)
I mean it’s a better idea than Stan the AI bot but not by much.
i know I’ll get flack for this but I’m happy being a curmudgeon. I know times are tough but it seems to be a misstep after misstep for me. Maybe I should just leave the site completely so I can hang on to the memories of when it was vibrant, useful and welcoming.

  6. You are correct @tthew You’ve found a bug. We are on it the fix will be updated on Monday but in the meantime I’ve transferred the missing credits to your account and others that need it.

  7. I assume the intention is to boost readership. But I think what discourages visitors is the website bugs. I would much rather the bugs get fixed than get a few quid for starting a hundred topics.

  8. I’d love to see the maths behind some of the STW ideas like this.

locking photos so the big threads like the weekly ride ones can only be added by full members, makes it a group chat on a public forum.
limits on the articles for free members, I get, but a lot are forum based or members writing, forum itself is bugs galore and the main active forum thread on the new forum itself is onto XX number of pages without anyone from ST towers replying since I don’t know when. How are these meant to entice lapsed full members (like me) or newbies?

  9. I like the idea behind it, I’m not a regular on the forums or the website but that is mainly as it just isn’t mobile friendly, if that could be solved I’d be here a lot more!
Same with the actual magazine itself, I would love it if I could really easily switch between iPad and phone and pick up exactly where I was.  As a busy parent I tend to try and grab time reading whenever I can, and I don’t always have the same device with me and end up wasting time working out where I was up to!

They’re not locked. Anyone is free to upload their photos on any of the free hosting sites and paste the link. It might be a bit more effort, but you could argue you get what you pay for.

  11. There’s a limit on how many credits you can earn each day but fundamentally yes, if you post something that others like and they express that by liking your posts, you are going to earn credits.

    Update from launch on Saturday.

We are aware thare is a bug that prevents subscribers from earning double credits when starting a topic. We’ve also found another bug that is removing a small number of credits from accounts where the payment fails. That’s obviously not intended. We have fixed both bugs and they will go live in our next update in the next 2 days. Any credits not earned or removed when they shouldn’t will be reissued after the update. We have a record of every transactions so no one will miss out – pinky promise.
