RockShox press release in full (and it is very full):

NEW SID FAMILY

Since SID shook up the World Cup in the ‘90s, it has become the undisputed champ of cross-country forks. Racing’s never been easy, but modern courses and bikes demand suspension technology that goes beyond shaving grams. The SID suspension family offers something for every XC rider, from the feathery SID SL to its jacked-up, longer-travel sibling, SID. Whichever trim you choose, you get an infinitely tunable fork with damping that’s dialed for XC.

THE XC FORK FOR CHAMPIONS AND CONTENDERS

The same way that you obsess over your training, nutrition, and preparation, we are always chasing ways to make SID that much faster. The new SID forks all feature new damping systems and a new air spring with chassis enhancements for performance and durability.

THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER

Cross-country is all about efficiency. Efficiency is all about control. More options give you more control. The new SID and SID SL forks now offer three-position damping systems that let you change from Open to Pedal to Lock positions on the fly.

Throughout the entire SID and SID SL lines, every damper is available with either three-position (3P) or two-position (2P) compression damping, from our top-of-the-line Charger Race Day 2 damper to Charger XC to Rush XC. Whichever fork you’re on, it puts on-the-fly control in your hands for whatever is up the track.

Extensive testing and development with everyone from local legends to the G.O.A.T. himself, Nino Schurter, revealed that the 3P damper’s Pedal position was a huge advantage for cross-country riding and racing.

It is easy to imagine the use for the Lock position—high-speed starts and sprints, or an extended climb up fire roads. Open is meant for the descents on today’s rugged XC courses. But what about in-between terrain? The Pedal position combines watt-friendly efficiency with comfort, traction, and control to make quick work of dicey climbs or fast, flowy singletrack.

MAXIMA PLUSH DYNAMIC SUSPENSION LUBE

Everyone loves an iconic collaboration. What manifested from our continued relationship with Maxima Racing Oils is the new Maxima Plush Dynamic Suspension Lube—a proprietary blend created in partnership with the foremost experts in performance lubrication and designed specifically for the new RockShox lineup. The goal was to create the perfect lubricant blend that keeps your suspension feeling fresher for longer, enabling every component in our forks to work together seamlessly in all temperatures. The obstacle was minimizing the inevitable resistance that moving parts incur. Working closely with Maxima, we found the gold medal recipe to complement our forks.

CROWNING ACHIEVEMENT

From the top down, you’ll notice how SID Ultimate and SID SL Ultimate have changed. We machined a new alloy crown that’s lighter than ever before. This update means that SID SL reigns supreme in super-light XC and keeps SID nice and trim without compromising steering precision.

THE FUTURE OF XC IS HERE

Don’t call it a downcountry fork…or do. SID drives like an enduro fork without sacrificing the efficiency and light weight that racers like Nino Schurter need. The new three-position damping system has Lock for smashing watts, Open for smashing rocks, and Pedal for efficient traction on techy climbs. SID’s new air spring has more volume and an improved negative spring for supple action that shushes trail chatter, no matter how loud the cowbells are clanging.

NEW DEBONAIR+
AN AIR SPRING THAT SOARS

SID already staked its claim as an XC fork that likes it rough, and now it’s more tunable than ever with its new DebonAir+ spring. Whether you want a firm feel or a plush ride, pressure adjustments make a noticeable difference in mid-stroke support. However you set it up, you won’t lose that supple feel at the top—or come up short of full travel. More traction, control, and comfort make SID unbeatable on any track or trail.

NEW DEBONAIR+
PUMP UP THE VOLUME

Additional air volume was a major improvement for SID’s DebonAir+ spring—50% more negative and 16% more positive volume. This modifies the spring curve so you can dial in the perfect feel for your riding style and terrain. Looking for more comfort? Drop 10 PSI. More support? Add 10 PSI. Whether you need firm mid-stroke support for racing or a bottomless feel for troublemaking, SID can do it all.

SID’s initial travel is now noticeably more supple. That’s partially due to the increased negative air volume, and partially to SID’s new top-out spring—a coil spring rather than a rubber bumper (less hysteresis… look it up.) The coil top-out bumper helps maintain both comfort and traction in the initial travel, where XC riders need it most.

SID IS STRONGER THAN EVER

Don’t be jealous; SID’s legs might be stronger than yours. Its new chassis rides on longer upper tubes for increased bushing overlap. This means both the upper and lower bushings are fully engaged to reduce side loads during impacts, resulting in less friction and increased long-haul durability. New, longer upper tubes also allowed us to boost the positive and negative air spring chamber volumes for endless tunability.

NEW
SID ULTIMATE 3P
FS-SID-ULT3-D1

Climb mountains. Charge descents. SID Ultimate isn’t like other XC forks. It is lighter than ever with a formidable 35mm chassis that holds the line when you’re on the edge. The new Race Day 2 damper features a three-position (3P) compression adjuster—rigid Lock, plush Open, and efficient Pedal positions, all at your fingertips. SID adapts to everything from full-gas cross-country to sporty backcountry loops thanks to a new, higher-volume DebonAir+ spring that’s supple at the top of its travel with tons of tunability.

LIGHT DONE RIGHT

When the number plate goes on, this is the fork you need. SID SL continues the legacy of unbelievably light XC forks made for the toughest races. Beyond paring down every gram possible, we added a new three-position (3P) damping system. Go full Lock for smashing watts, plush Open for smashing rocks, or switch to the Pedal position for efficient traction on techy climbs. SID SL’s weight may be small, but it is mighty with chassis and internal upgrades for improved durability, now available in a 110 mm travel option. As they say at the Leogang World Cup: Wunderbar!

NEW SIDLUXE
SMALL AND MIGHTY

Modern cross-country asks suspension to do the impossible—pure efficiency for climbing and bottomless travel for descending. Impossible? SIDLuxe doesn’t see it that way.

The latest SIDLuxe features a new three-position (3P) damping system alongside the existing two-position (2P) system. Both options offer the rock-solid Lock position racers need for starts and sprints, plus a bump-absorbing Open position for downhills. The new 3P configuration also has an efficient Pedal position for dicing up technical climbs and singletrack. The high-speed compression damping is also improved for instantaneous blow-off when you charge into the sketchiest downhill on the course. You know, the one where all the spectators are watching.

THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER

You used to have to compromise pedaling efficiency for traction and comfort. SIDLuxe hates compromises. Its new three-position (3P) damping system lets you set your suspension for any terrain on the trail or race course, perfectly complementing a SID or SID SL fork.

SIDLuxe still features the rock-solid Lock position that’s been proven in World Cup starts and sprints. It also has a fully active Open position to tame every track from Mont-Sainte-Anne to Houffalize. Now, a Pedal position sits in the middle, perfectly blending traction and efficiency for technical climbs and undulating trails.

TUNED TO THE KEY OF SPEED

SIDLuxe is the only rear shock that can match the pace of a World Cup cross-country race. When unexpected bumps catch you off guard, its new high speed compression damping system reacts faster than you can.

We increased oil flow to allow the compression damping to blow off faster when you hit unexpected turbulence. This responsive high speed compression is active in both Open and Pedal positions. Focus on chasing that rider up the trail, and don’t sweat your rear shock’s settings.

With increased oil flow comes the need for more bottom-out resistance. We introduced a taller, tapered bottom-out bumper to add more forgiveness at full travel for an endless feel that lends more control throughout the chaos.

NEW
SIDLUXE ULTIMATE 3P
RS-SIDL-ULT3-A2

Blistering sprints, chunky descents, and high-speed singletrack — SIDLuxe Ultimate is built for this. Its new three-position (3P) XC damping gives you efficiency when you want it and travel when you need it with Open, Pedal, and Lock positions. SIDLuxe is the only super-light rear shock that can go toe to toe with your favorite SID fork.

NEW Bolt-in torque cap adapters included for use with standard hub end-caps.

Hmm SRAM have finally worked out torque caps are a PITA!

I wonder if the torque cap adapters will be able to be used on the ‘old’ SIDs? Getting my front wheel in can be a chore sometimes.

It’s all well and good them talking about their super new lube in the forks, I’d just have been happy to have any lube in the lowers in my current SID SL forks. They really need to sort out their QC.

It’s a shame they’ve stuck with the Gripshift style Twistloc for the new range, I was hoping they’d have came up with something compatible with the AXS system so we could have wireless lockouts.

The Torque Cap adapters come with the 23 Lyrik. They work. Sure there are a few companies doing stick on ones also

If you have DTSwiss hubs you can buy the Torque cap adapters if that helps?

I am not a fan of the twistlock and found it a PITA to use, or rather not use plus F’s up any grip choice you might want, big no from me.

Yeah like @crossed I hope they sort out the lube issue. I’ve got two pairs of SIDs on current bikes and both were very very lacking.

New models do look nice though!

The claims of ‘stronger than ever’ and ‘increased durability’ – they’d set themselves a pretty low bar.

‘Bushings are fully engaged’ – they weren’t on the last iteration. A fix that shouldn’t have been a problem in the first place.

“The XC fork for champions and contenders”.  Ah well that rules me out then!
