Midweek Movies: Steez, Recovery, and Snowboards

by 2

It’s practically the weekend already, thanks to the time warp created by that wet Bank Holiday Monday. Which means it is midweek, Wednesday, hump day, and the perfect time to kick back and spend some quality time with the internet. Or, you can go and ride your bike. There’s probably not time to do both, unless you charge your lights. In fact, why don’t you do that now, then when you’ve watched these you’ll be raring to go.

Lapierre Zipp Collective

Celebrating the young talent on this EWS team, here is a video full of steez for you. And scenic Corsica. Damn, we want to go there.

Emil Johansson – Immersed

Tons more steez, but with less of a soundtrack – this is a lovely quite video that lets the riding and the landscape speak for itself.

Brook “The Bulldog” MacDonald | The Road Back

A veritable movie, and not one for those who wince at crash reels. This film charts Brook MacDonald’s recovery from a horrible crash to his first race back.

Danny Mac & Kris Kyle: This & That

This has taken ages for Danny and Kris to get shot. Was it worth all the effort? And which is the best trick? And why have they named it after the best curry cafe in Manchester?

This and That Bloopers Reel

If there’s not already enough falling off for you in the main edit, there’s also a crash reel.

MTB Downhill vs Snowboard: Last Chair, First Run

It’s not really a race – there’s way to much styling it up going on for that. The whole last day of snow/first day of MTB thing attracts quite the party in the USA. Are we envious of their snow, their chair uplifts, and their many bike parks? No…the climb at the Golfie in the howling rain and wind is all part of the fun here in the UK…right?

Back on the Gas

Helen Gaskill talks recovery and laps of Helvellyn. She reckons you can do three in a day at a push – which is a lot more than James Vincent achieved when he gave it a go a few years back. Is this a sign of technological progress, or is Helen just a lot better than James?

Your lights are definitely charged by now, best head out there and have fun. What do you mean you plugged them in but forgot to flip the switch to on?

I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones. More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments. I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.
