Commencal’s tweaked Meta HT hardtail released with 2021 build and a couple of frame updates.
Think Commencal and you will probably picture downhill race runs, enduro wins, and aggressive full-suspension bikes, but full-bounce isn’t all they do. The Commencal Meta HT has been a regular in the range for a couple of years already and remains popular among a variety of different riders today.
Compared to the full-suspension bikes, the geometry of the Meta HT is aimed at playing around and having fun, rather than podiums and all-out race speed, and the 2021 version of the bike drops standover to take the play to a new level.
The 2021 Meta HT follows its roots with a shortish reach, the ability to run 27.5 or 29in wheels and options for either 150mm or 160mm forks. The tweaked frame does now have a shorter seat tube length so that riders who do want more reach can opt for a larger bike and also take advantage of modern, long-travel, dropper posts.

Well that’s gone to the top of my list for a new hardtail build.
Sure those reach figures are right? Really short for that style of bike?
Has something of the classic SC Chameleon about it, and that can only be a good thing.
It’s not that long. But then I’m not 100% sold on the longer/slacker geometry on a hardtail. Happy to be proved wrong though
That looks filmed around Zona Zero/Ainsa to me?
Looks like the lovechild of Askrigg and McAskill
Edit – the rider not the bike!!
Head is still 3 degrees too steep and seat tube 3 degrees too slack 🙁
