BTR is working on the Mk2 Gasser Steel full-suspension frame

Fans of steel full-suspension frames have got plenty to choose from, but fans steel DH bikes might want to take a look at the BTR Gasser Mk2.

BTR might be best known for UK hardtails and the Pinner full-suspension bike, but a few years ago the company also had a steel downhill bike called the BTR Gasser. The original Gasser shared a similar single-pivot suspension with linkage driven shock as the Pinner, but obviously it made more than the Pinner’s 130mm of rear-wheel travel.

While the Gasser did disapear it has been reserrected and it’s going to look a little different from anything we’ve seen from BTR so far.

The Gasser Mk2 is still a ways off from being finalised, but followers of BTR on Instagram have already seen some of the progression made to the update.

Originally the new Mk2 Gasser was going to be designed as a simple single pivot steel full-suspension bike, with a shock yoke that directly drives the rear shock.

But this latest image shows a much more sophisticated design, one with a push rod that activates a linkage so that the kinematics can be dialled in to suit the intended use.

The overall look of the new Gasser design still has the BTR DNA with large ‘X’ shaped main frame design and compact steel rear triangle. There are few details about the bike, but it sounds like the Gasser MK2 will be completed by June and that the bike has been commissioned by a customer, so we’ll have to wait and see if the new bike eventually joins the BTR stable.

If steel full-suspension bikes are your thing, but you’re looking for something more trail/enduro orientated then check out these spy photos of the new Pipedream The Full Moxie, a UK designed steel full-suspension frame that we expect to launch any day now.
