Inspired by the Three Peaks Cyclo Cross, which Hope Technology describe as “..one of our favourite cycling events”, the Hope Technolgy Pre Peaks event has been designed to be a local version of the race that takes in some of the best scenery in the Yorkshire Dales with a healthy mix of roads, tracks and paths along the route.
The Three Peaks is known amongst those who have attempted it, to be one of the toughest races out there and hope have had a long love affair with the event, with numerous staff and riders competing over the years. In fact, it’s apparently some sort of a tradition that you aren’t a true employee of Hope Technology until you’ve done the ‘Peaks’.
The premise of this event is that it is as tough as the 3 Peaks race, but without the pressure of actually racing. Plus you can ride any bike you like, including eBikes, so long as it will cope with the terrain. You can think of it as a sort of warm up for the big event or a taster for those not lucky enough to get an entry to the 3 Peaks race. It’s not about the racing, it’s about the journey… man.
Hope aims to repeat the success of last years first Pre Peaks, with a great route, brilliant feed stations and optional factory tours after the ride and earlier this year we despatched Chipps to ride out with current 3 peaks race champion and Hope Technology employee, Paul Oldham, to check out the route. You can read his account of his grand day out in the Dales here.
If you are looking for a challenge opn the weekend of the 19th August then the good news is that there are still some places available. Just get yourself over to the www.hopeprepeaks.com website and sign yourself up while it’s still sunny. And check out this video from last year’s event. Note the smiles not the miles.
