“The Flying Scotsman” Joins Endura as Brand Ambassador

Graeme Obree, the record-breaking, pioneering and rather unorthodox cyclist from Kilmarnock has joined Scottish clothing brand Endura as the official “Brand Ambassador.

Does this count as forward geometry?

The double world 4000m pursuit champion achieved his maverick title after breaking Francesco Moser’s hour record in 1993 using a self-made bike fashioned from an old BMX and reclaimed bearings from a washing machine!

Endura is hoping for his left-field influence to move the “already thriving internal innovation process” forward.

Obree said: “I’m delighted to be working with an iconic Scottish brand to produce clothing that I want to wear myself and I am really looking forward to working with the Endura team.”

The legendary Scotsman more recently (well, 2013 recently) took part in the World Human Powered Speed Challenge in Nevada. He took the record for cycling in the prone position.

“Take me with you, Max”

“They say you should never meet your heroes but since first discussing the possibility of a co-operation with Graeme my only regret is what we didn’t start working together sooner,” said Founder and Managing Director of Endura, Jim McFarlane.

“He is the consummate gentleman and his track record – not only as an athlete but also as a pioneer and innovator – makes him perfectly well matched to working with our team.

“I am excited to see where this partnership leads.”

Obree even has a new biopic out, which is currently touring the UK till April this year. Here’s the trailer…

    Excellent news

Top man. Legendary cyclist, innovator and inventor. Did it all his own way, an inspiration.

This, combined with the fact that they’ve finally stopped making mtb shorts with stoopid poppers instead of buttons – makes me feel a whole lot warmer towards Endura.

I know they’ve a vested interest, but great that they’re working with and supporting a true cycling legend
