If you’ve not heard of it before, 30 Days of Biking is a personal challenge with a charitable edge. People pledge to ride their bike every day in April, and for every two that do, 1USD is donated to World Bicycle Relief. This year we have six riders attempting the challenge.
Day 22
The end of another week, the start of another weekend. A chance to look forward to plans, or just to unwind from the week that was.
Adele
“Who runs the world?”
Giles
I love riding on Friday evenings. As the world struggles to get home, get to the chippy or pub, the trails and tracks are generally empty. On tonight’s quiet ride it was like everything’s gone green, Spring had firmly sprung and whilst it was a few degrees cooler than of late the promise of summer is here!
Greg
We think Greg is off grid again. He was last seen on Instagram playing with bike packing equipment.
Hannah
Couldn’t fit a ride to work into the day’s logistics, so instead I led Giles astray, luring him out to the pub with the promise of beer and crisps. Bought a couple of cans to take home, thinking my husband would be glad of the treat. But he was already asleep on the sofa, at 9:30pm. It’s all rock and roll in our house.
Lara
Not particularly fussed that today’s ride only amounted to a one mile round trip to the shop. The day of the week appropriate supplies are for an exciting bike adventure this weekend. SERIOUSLY hoping for temperatures in double figures and no rain!
Rachel
My ride, and its photo, wasn’t an exciting one. But an exciting ride wasn’t what I needed. What I needed, and what I got, was a fast and easy extended spin home where I could empty my head from all the work chaos of the day and week gone by. Rides like this appear insignificant compared to beautiful, long days in the hills but their value is often greater.
The final week
And so we head into the final week. Will it be a crescendo of epic adventure and feats of endurance, or just a bit of a pootling taper ride? The point of #30DaysofBiking is that where you go doesn’t matter, it’s just getting out there in the first place. If you’ve not been doing #30DaysofBiking, why not try joining us for the last week. Once you get out, you never quite know where you might end up.
