News from Anne-Caroline Chausson’s sponsor, Ibis, reveals the reason behind the pro rider’s sudden disappearance following the Samoens World Enduro Series race in July 2015 was treatment for ovarian cancer.
ACC had apparently been feeling unwell for some time prior to the Samoens but an MRI scan at the time revealed the cancer. Since then she has undergone treatment including surgery and chemotherapy and in and interview posted on the Ibis website, she is reported to be recovering well and could even be back racing again this summer.
In an Instagram post 2 weeks ago she hinted at her continued recovery without giving details of her illness.
You can read the full interview here.
Anne-Caroline is an all round, French pro rider having competed in everything from BMX to XC.She is best known for having won thirteen UCI senior mountain bike world championship rainbow jerseys fourteen European mountain bike championships, and five consecutive Mountain Bike World Cup downhill series (1998-2002).
On behalf of everyone at Singletrack, we wish her the best of luck with her continued recovery and look forward to seeing her back on the race circuit later this year.
