Video: Chamonix Trails

by 1

Lots of us have action cameras, but not many of us make good videos with them. Even if you have messed around with cameras a lot and got your eye in, shooting and editing well are still both really difficult, often tedious jobs. The result is usually a lot of not very exciting footage sitting around on hard drives and MicroSD cards, which looks all the paler set against professionally produced video from events where they appear to have an embarrassment of 4K cinecameras, drones and steadicams just tumbling from the boots of estate cars.

Every so often though, we see a decently made, reasonably short holiday video, such as the one below shot by David Lillieroth in Chamonix. Chamonix has definitely lagged behind other areas of the Alps when it comes to developing as a mountain bike destination, but starting with some steep hike-a-bike, this shows some beautiful natural trails and has fun use of rear facing shots:

David Lillieroth, Chamonix

David started mountain biking in the 90’s, by which he means “Ineptly jumping a Saracen Kili Racer off anything available in a nearby industrial estate”. After growing up and living in some extremely flat places, David moved to Yorkshire specifically for the mountain biking. This felt like a horrible mistake at first, because the hills are so steep, but you get used to them pretty quickly. Previously, David trifled with road and BMX, but mountain bikes always won. He’s most at peace battering down a rough trail, quietly fixing everything that does to a bike, or trying to figure out if that one click of compression damping has made things marginally better or worse. The inept jumping continues to this day.

That guy on the thread asking about the riding near Nottingham Uni? Well, it’s just like that ^^^^^^

    Would I lie to you?

    Very envious of that trip.
