Specialized have revealed a new trail riding shoe based on their 2FO platform.
The 2FO (Foot Out, Flat Out) Cliplite is pretty self explanatory. It purports to keep all that was awesome about the shoes, (which were always a little more gravity focussed) whilst shaving weight and adding a bunch of features for trail riding.
The sole remains the same, but a little slimmer, and it comes complete with a ‘landing strip’ of harder rubber to help cleat engagement. They retain the 3/4 ‘lollipop’ shank to maintain stiffness whilst keeping the heel flexible for walking. The fit is a little more snug than the regular 2FO, too, but it keeps the Body Geometry stuff, naturally.
Perhaps the main aesthetic difference is in the upper. laces are a thing of the past, replaced with S2 Boa dials and a velcro strap, and the whole shebang is 50g lighter per shoe than the originals.
They look pretty tasty; we’ll get some in to test and let you know how we get on! There’s no UK pricing as yet, but they’re $180 in the US.

Like everything about my 2FO clips – except the laces 🙂
They look good, I have the standard 2fo clip and the 5 10 kestrel, the 2fo is the more comfy shoe but does feel a tad clumpy.
