Long gone are the days when every major manufacturer had a tandem, outside of the specialty makers the choices are slim. It took a few years of teasing and testing, but the Salsa Powderkeg 29er tandem finally exists.

Capable of singletrack with clearance for 29 x 2.4″ tires, Salsa also expects people to hit long gravel rides and tours with the Powderkeg and equipped it with rack and bottle mounts most everywhere they would fit, for a total capacity of nine bottles or a myriad of other equipment using Anything Cages and creativity.

The frame and fork are 4130 chromoly, sporting oversized tubes throughout, especially on the thru-axle fork that is meant to handle the abuse of hundred of pounds of riders on a mountain tandem plowing through obstacles.

Salsa’s pivoting Alternator dropouts allow for a typical mountain drivetrain or a Rohloff hub, or even single speeding it out in the case of a broken derailleur.

Available in medium captain / small stoker, large/small and large/medium for $3999 USD complete as shown, or $1999 USD as a frameset.
UK Pricing to be confirmed.
