We’re back in full swing and fresher than your unworn festive knitwear. With plans afoot to host the 2015 UK Singlespeed Championships (SSUK15) on a brand new, purpose built course in September we thought we’d kick off 2015 in style with EDS Bikes.

Happy New Year Wayne. What’s happening?
We’ve been bonkers busy over the past few months operating our core business, as a specialist bike shop promoting steel and titanium bikes, singlespeed, fatbikes and bikepacking. We are a Cyclesheme & bike2work partner store, also offering maintenance courses & bike servicing run by our friendly and experienced Cytec qualified staff.
I grew up in and around Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire, the area is my home and mountain biking my passion. We’re based in Snainton, Scarborough, with Dalby only five minutes ride away, with link access to the trails direct from our shop, so we are very well served for local riding. We’re pretty near the coast too which is ideal for the growing numbers of fatbike freaks out there!
2015 will see us continue to spread the ‘good bike shop’ word, by growing our guiding business and as summer draws to a close, we’ll be focusing on the UK Singlespeed Championships that we’re putting together in our back yard come September. EDS Bikes Facebook and Twitter will be keeping everyone in the loop with developments as they unfold.
Remind us about your custom builds?
Our Singletrack reader offer is very much geared towards attracting those informed riders who want us to build them something unique. We stock the very finest of brands and work very closely with Cotic, Travers, Singular, Stanton and Forme. We are also specialists in the US based Surly, Salsa, Jones Bikes and Canada’s Banshee, so there is something for everyone.
What’s the main focus for the coming year?
We are very excited to announce we are confirmed hosts for the 2015 UK Singlespeed Championships (SSUK15) Friday 4 – Sunday 6 September. If you’re interested, get yourself joined up with the dedicated Facebook page for updates. The dedicated website for the event will be up and running within the next month.
Otherwise, Bike Packing is something we are very keen to promote and support. We are now offering an ‘Intro to bike packing’ as a customer service. A two day guided trip over and around the North York Moors. Specialist kit will be available to hire or buy from Spring 2015. Please contact us for full details.
Have you recovered from your heroic Coast to Coast efforts in June?
Just about. The coast to coast (in a day) sportive … me on a fat bike. Sounds simple doesn’t it? 😉 It was great to raise some serious cash for a good cause and beating 300 or so roadies on route, made so much more fun sat on board the truly amazing Travers Bikes ‘Fat Race’ machine.
Very much a worthwhile effort and nailed, in under 20 hours.
