Tide to Tide: A team relay race against the sea.

A six hour relay between the tides?  Coastal woodland singletrack with a bit of beach on the side for good measure. It’s almost time for Tide to Tide…

On Saturday October 4th, Howies and A Cycling are putting on a brand new coastal cycling event in Wales.

It will be a six hour team relay, racing from high to low tide (3pm to 9pm) on a spectacular 7km course through Pembrey Country Park.

Open to pairs and teams, the race will take a snaking route through woodland with masses of fast, flowing singletrack with a short section on the beach. We’ve designed it for off-roaders like cyclocross, mountain bike or fat bikes. But if it rolls on dirt and you can pedal it, it’ll be fine. The coastal location means the terrain drains very quickly, making it perfect regardless of the weather.

Magic lap

Surly Bikes will be on site all day providing demo rides on the full range of bikes, including the very first UK sighting of the new Surly Ice Cream Truck, plus the Pugsey, Pug Ops, Instigator and the Krampus 29+. Surly will also be running the “Magic Lap Challenge” where you have the chance to win a Surly Krampus frameset. You just have to set a lap time closest to the magic lap. There will be plenty more swag up for grabs from all the other sponsors too and not just for the fastest riders!

Free camping is included with the entry fee and there will be plenty going on when you are not riding. With fantastic facilities, including showers, cafe, bar and live music there will be lots to keep you amused.

Pembrey Country Park is great for families with a huge adventure playground, Wales’ longest toboggan run, dry ski slope and of course the wonderful woodland and beach.
