Tuesday Treats 15: Singletrack School

by singletrackjay 1

This week we’re serving up Tuesday Treats in a delicious ‘skillz’-based flavour. A bit like revisiting a long lost album to reflect on a particular memory, signing up to a skills session can not only be tonnes of fun but will help unearth some hidden secrets to enhance your life. What’s not to like? The folks at Singletrack School are here to make sure this becomes a reality.

Our Premier Dealers continue to build a reputation that’s second to none in the generosity stakes – this week Singletrack School have upped the ante by offering a varied prize-fest, with 13 chances to win big from a prize pot worth over £350!

This week, we introduce Singletrack School. In their own words…

Get that chin up lad!

Singletrack School have been running mountain bike skills courses and guided rides in the Surrey Hills and Yorkshire Moors since 2007,  building gradually from humble beginnings to becoming one the leading providers of mountain bike skills coaching in the UK.

We have three full-time British Cycling Coaches and a further four part-time and freelance coaches and guides.

On our website you’ll find the widest range of skills courses available in the UK, including half and full day coaching sessions, workshops, weekend beginners, improver and advanced courses.  Not to mention a huge choice of guided rides and adventures.

What’s your current best-selling/hottest product?

Our most popular skills course at the moment is our Mountain Bike Improver Weekend which is designed to take relatively experienced riders to the next level by ironing out problems with their fundamentals, in order to get them riding with total confidence.

By the end of the weekend our students are manualling and hopping with ease, tackling tricky drop-offs like seasoned trail hands and ready for anything the trail can throw at them. The course is available with or without accommodation and is also available to buy in gift voucher form.

Which product/brand does every staff member have on their bike?

As winter closes in the product you’ll see all of our coaches wearing is an Original BUFF® on their heads. When it gets really cold we’ll even double up with one on our heads and another around our necks. Our favourite BUFF® is the super-warm Merino Wool BUFF.

What was the last custom tour or course you did?

We do a lot of work coaching and guiding corporate groups from a wide variety of small to large businesses and including big names such as Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover and JP Morgan.

Spending a day with us is a great way to have a really worthwhile experience out of the office, while improving your bike handling skills and seeing some of the best trails on offer in the UK.

Tell us something about your staff that no one knows…

Like the guys at Singletrack, we’re all dog lovers here. Our two company Border Collies, professional trail companions (and junior coaches!) Twig and Flint don’t know it yet but they have a new brother on his way. It’s another Collie, whose name is likely to be Spider if it suits him.

"It really was this big. Honest."

Is there a regular shop ride or forthcoming event you think our readers should know about?

We run our ‘shop ride’ under the guise of Love to Ride in the Surrey Hills. These run all year around on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. They are a great way of meeting other riders in the south-east and many members also ride together at weekends.

What do Singletrack Premier Subscribers get from Singletrack School?

Singletrack Premier Subscribers get 10% off our mountain bike skills courses.

As a special Tuesday Treats (time limited offer) we are also offering Singletrack readers the chance to get a free copy of Essentials: Trailriding Tips and Techniques from Glentress (by Emma Guy and Tracy Brunger) worth £6.99, just in time for Christmas, when they buy a gift voucher worth over £100.
