Midweek Mini Movies 89

A life spent watching the joyful things passing before you while being unable to join in is a terrible waste – unless it’s done in your lunch break. Then it’s an excellent use of time. Here’s this week’s pick of mountain bikey moving images from the internet with some random oddities thrown in as well…

That Danny Hart fella is everywhere, and rightly so with a World Champs title under his belt. Five Ten and MTBCut have been busy making a film about where it all started for him – yes, back in Redcar. Loads of cool footage of an even younger Danny shredding about Hamsterley and UK downhill tracks.

Norway looks like an even burlier and less populated Scotland in this little edit from clothing brand Norrona. If only booze was cheap and the cheese wasn’t brown there. Thanks to Andy from Go Where Scotland for the tip…

We have absolutely no idea what this lot means…

“This concept that speaks of Enduro’s natural flexibility in adapting to the land and culture to which it spreads eventually became known as the Clementz precepts of the Enduro Order…”

..but here’s Jérôme Clementz ragging his bike in the Vosges. Looks fun, doesn’t it?

Over to an isle that Sim and Jon both love. Sicily is full of the things that make a mountain biking trip good, as we found out in Issue 62, with good trails, good food and good people. MET sponsored rider Bernard Kerr has been over there, seeing the sights on a shoestring budget…

There was a horrible phase in the 1990s when mountain biking was tarred with the brush of being ‘extreme’, lumping it in with inline skating, street luging and other wacky and badly dressed sports. It also meant any footage of it was doomed to have shouty voiceovers and bad thrash metal soundtracks. This is a classic example of bikers being quite lame in the snow. Thank god mountain biking is less whacky now – but equally badly dressed…

The Jedi returns – Tony Doyle off of UK Bike Skills is back with some more video blogging…

Bearded beauty Ed Oxley has been bouncing around the glorious springtime trails in the Valley on his new Titus El Guapo. We hope they’re doing a limited edition El Barbudo Guapo in his honour.

Thrills, spill and bellyaches from the Northern lot…

Matt’s Arts & Crafts Corner

In the future, Ed Oxley will look like this. Actually, this is Victor, who’s been riding his skateboard since 1954 – and considers every day before that one to have been a waste.

January was just as prone to fails as any other month – here it is in memoriam. Possibly a spot of NSFW-ness here and there…
