The British Mountain Bike Race Series will reach it’s climax on the 24th – 26th September with an exciting action packed weekend. Watch as some of the hottest MTB talent in the UK battle it out in this last round for those all important series points, which will ultimately decide the series winner. Plus you’ll also get the chance to get to grips with some hot bikes, straight off the 2011 press, ready to roll.

HOT!

Both Saturday and Sunday at Newnham Park will see eight of the UK’s top brands including Trek, Specialized, Giant, Santa Cruz, Merida, Yeti and Genesis unveil some of their 2011 bikes. You’ll be one of the first in the UK to shake a leg and get up close and personal to some of these dirt beauties. Our experienced demo crew have already earmarked a fantastic section of the infamous Newnham course for you to test the rig of your choice. All you need to do is turn up with the necessary info and you could be the envy of your mates with a sneak preview of these 2011 machines.

For the youngsters out there don’t forget there will be the free starlet races, open to any child under the age of 12 kicking off at 5.30pm Saturday afternoon.

THRILL!

A whole day of racing on Saturday 25th September will see riders tackle the tough but much loved terrain of Newnham Park, spectators will be treated to the whole ups and downs that only mountain bike racing can provide! While riders will experience first hand the infamous ‘Pipeline’, one of many testing features that the 7km course will be littered with!

Can Oli Beckingsale steal a march on rival Liam Killeen and take revenge after the Nationals? Both riders are neck and neck in the race for the top only this deciding battle in Newnham Park will decide numero uno.

Same applies to the elite women’s race. On paper Rosara Joseph could walk away with the series, but this is mountain biking and anything could happen! Waiting in the wings ready to strike will be Lily Matthews and Lee Craigie both tying on equal points, while close to the hunt will undoubtedly be National Irish Champion Kait Elliott as well as home grown talent, Maddie Horton. Rumours have it that the Queen of XC racing, Gun Rita Dahle Flesja, may also be on hand hoping to put a cat amongst the pigeons…..

EXCITEMENT!

Not only is the weekend host to the final round of the British Mountain Bike Championships, but also a few other fun packed races too! Friday night will see the final outing of the Team Relay race, which will see team’s of 4 riders in a exhilarating giant game of mountain bike tag, battle it out for the chance to call themselves champions!

Then for the ‘cross lovers out there Newnham Park will also be laying on the popular floodlit ‘cross race Saturday night. Don’t worry you wont be expected to tackle the MTB course, instead you’ll have a perfectly crafted 1.4km loop that will dash you round the floodlit arena before plunging you into total darkness as you cross the bridge, scramble over the rocky hurdles, before you explode into the floodlit arena again. Expect 40 mins of heart pounding, leg burning, exhilarating ‘cross fun.

Chill out after all that fun listening to live music with a young local band providing the tunes, while tucking into some tasty treats provided by Quaver Catering.

CHALLENGE!

Why not makes a weekend of it? The event is all set up with free camping, plus all the facilities you could hope for, including retail therapy thanks to Swinnerton Cycles and of course a bike wash! Take as many rides on the demo as you want Saturday and Sunday or why not take part in the Newnham 60 on the Sunday, a challenging ride that takes you to some spectacular trails not usually accessible to riders. You decide how far you want to push yourself with a 30km and 60 km option available. Your reward will not only be some fantastic riding but also a finishers t-shirt and a marvellous Devon cream tea!
