09/10 Mountain Hardwear Open5 Series

by 0

Open5_logoThe Mountain Hardwear Open5 series kicks off again next month.  The competitive winter series of adventure races has a proven track record of attracting the best in the country whilst appealing to those who just want to have a go. The events are open to solos and pairs. The first event is already attracting a healthy number of competitors out of their beds on a Sunday morning.

All of the events in this series have experienced Adventure Racers at the helm to ensure that the events don’t get predictable. All taking in the best that the local area has to offer on MTB and on foot. The first event of the series is in the Lake District with serial adventure Racer and local Anthony Cooper at the helm.  Expect to pass through some amazing country side and experience some spectacular views.

Mountain Hardwear have also come up trumps with over £5000 worth of prizes on offer through out the series.  Following last years successful top male / female series table another two £500 vouchers will be up for grabs for the highest scoring male / female racers over all 5 events. Accelerate will also have their shop at all of the events showing off the best kit in Adventure Racing (needless to say Mountain Hardwear will feature highly).

• Lake District – 1st November 09
• Peak District – 6th December 09
• South Pennines – 7th February 10

Orange Switch 6er. Stif Squatcher. Schwalbe Magic Mary Purple Addix front. Maxxis DHR II 3C MaxxTerra rear. Coil fan. Ebikes are not evil. I have been a writer for nigh on 20 years, a photographer for 25 years and a mountain biker for 30 years. I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld. Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.
