I have been a writer for nigh on 20 years, a photographer for 25 years and a mountain biker for 30 years. I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld.
Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.

The Ramones looks great. What’s it made of? And no frame-only option?
i want an absoloute with lyrics 🙁
The ‘recon’ on that ramone appears to be 20mm bolt-thru, whats going on there then?
Also, hydraulic rear, cable disc front on the absolut?
Ramone is the star IMO
yep – agree with that on the Ramone – looks the shiznit.
the built up absolut SX looks like a hell of a lot of fun to play on.
Super 4 Carbon vs a Blur XCc I reckon….
is it just me or does the idea of a 100mm travel rear end matched to a 120mm front end on the Super4 sound like a bloody cracking idea. what other bikes are like that?
mmm, lots of nice looking frames! I wonder if the Ramones will be available frame only?
Does this mean an end to badly aligned 8lb 5.5 frames that continuously crack on the welds?
James – There’s a cable disc on the front and a hydraulic on the rear as the first thing many dirt jumpers will do is whip the front brake off (for barspins, tricks, etc) relying only on the rear. Hence Commencal quite wisely spec a cheaper cable disc brake on the front, meaning better equipment elsewhere on the bike.
Re: the Recon – well spied! Fork specced on the Ramones1 is the 2010 Rock Shox Recon 327 U-Turn 140mm 20mm Maxle
Any idea on the price of a Ramones 1? I might have one of them.
All prices TBC I’m afraid. They should be out in the public domain following the dealer launch in early July.

I want an SX- that looks the dogs! Can you put a rear mech option on it or is it single speed only? How much???
I mean can the dropouts be changed, as it is pictured as single speed.
lovely looking bikes, nicely shaped tubes, lines and forms without excessive hydroforming
Ooh carbon 5.5, wonder if its silly money like the C.BLT or something a bit more affordable.
