These winter gloves are the highest spec mountain biking glove in the Sealskinz range, they are waterproof, breathable and have specific gel padding on the palm to help absorb the shock from mountain biking. First thoughts about these gloves are the fact that they are quite bulky but we are talking about a serious winter glove for extreme cold. I think the coldest temperature i rode in the gloves was around -4 / -5C and my hands didn’t even feel it. To be honest they were a little too warm for me even at these temperatures.

While riding the gloves where surprisingly supple for the bulky looks and levers and shifter could be adequately felt for gear changes and braking. The gel pads on the palm did take some of the sting out of the trail and the Velcro closure around the wrist kept the cold drafts out.

They are at the high end of the price range but they are full of modern materials such as Primaloft insulation and other waterproof breathable membranes.

Overall: If you after a serious pair of winter gloves or you suffer from cold hands then these are the ones for you – if you don’t mind spending a bit of cash.

I just picked up a pair of these at my local Go Outdoors store for only £20. They also have them available at the same price on their website.

Ive had a pair of these for a year now got to be the best out there, used them in the snow & rain a not had one cold ride….the wife brought them for me for xmas best pressie she’s ever got me….

I own some too, got them from Winfields for around £20, and all i can say is that they’re bliddy marvellous in the freezing cold. Impossible to get off once you work up a sweat, though.

‘ Impossible to get off once you work up a sweat, though.’
I thought so too until I read the instructions. Instructions for gloves what next? 🙂

You need to grab the ends of the fingers (all 4 in one go is the recommended option) and then pull gently. That way the lining doesn’t erm… prolapse is the best word I can think of.

Anyway, once I did this they were spot on.
