There is such an abundance of lovely flowers out at the present.

Do any of the STW have a wildflower garden or pictures to share??

we've got some nice wood anenomes and some blue bells coming through at the moment. The forget-me-not was trampled by the dog and the primroses are doing well too. I might take some pictures tomorrow if it's nice.

I read the OP title as WILDFOWLERS. Was hoping for some tales of pink footed geese on the foreshore and 3" magnum cartridges. Never mind....

Yep, I noticed the multitude of wild flowers in the woods today - carpets of little yellow, white, and violet, coloured flowers, sometimes mixed. No idea what they were called but the looked very pretty and I felt strangely connected to my feminine side - not something which happens very often.

Was out for a ride this morning - the best time of year when the sun is shining.

Is this a Broom Shrub? Whatever it is, it's pretty prolific around here.

Looks like a Celandine to me - Ranunculus ficaria if you're posh.

Pulled a load of lesser celandine up from my garden last night. Hope that in doing so I don't promote more growth as is possible with the little tubey things spreading.

Wild garlic, homegrown spinach, mint and pea soup last night.

The blue bells on the malverns are starting to come out, but not in big carpets yet. Wondering if the drought will stop them from being quite so thick and lush this year...

Thinking about going out to pick some nettles later...

redthunder - how's your wildflower mini meadow coming along? We're about to strim and dig ours sometime over the weekend

How have you created your wildflower meadows?

I hear this is a work of unparalleled genius:

Hey redthunder, saw your post on this thread a while ago and was intrigued by the Dandelion Bhaji thing...so...

Stoner Jr Sr and I went out a'forragin' this morning on the common, and then after slim pickings went round our orchard which yielded better.

This lot:

Turned into this lot:

Using this recipe:
http://www.food.heronweb.ca/recipes/dandy-burgers.html

and...they were bloody lovely. Nom factor 7/10.
Not sure how much flavour came from the onions and herbs (I used a handful stuff like parsley & dill from the garden rather than the two in the recipe), but there was a very distinct "flowery" flavour from the dandelions. And of course the crispy batter cant help.

If you've got a spare hour tomorrow, I highly recommend taking the kids out with a bag and have a go.
