Apart from which, I'd look a real div wearing baggies/lcra shorts, lycra jersey, Giro Hex, Camelbak, and black Next socks!

I've got news for you, everyone in cycling clothing of any description looks like a div. If what you look like bothers you then cycling is probably left well alone.

Maybe I should have added a smiley, or said 'more of a div'.

But I'd refer you to this post –

I use "cycling" socks over "normal" socks when riding for the same reason that I use a "proper" MTB rather than a "toys R us" MTB…

    which I completely agree with.

Wollie Boolies for me too. toasty feet in winter and they keep your feet cool in summer.

As well as running/cycling socks for cycling/running, I also have special football socks for football and skiiing socks for skiiing/snowboarding.

Imagine! I realise now that I should just wear my work socks at all times and not worry about keeping feet dry, cool, warm, shinpads in place or calves from being cut to ribbons. After all, these highly specialised socks can cost upward of two or three pounds a pair…

    🙂

Normal socks a lot of the time, but thin cotton socks just aren't pleasant when it's wet and cold, so some wool or merino jobbies as appropriate.
