Who's the best wind-up merchant on STW?

CFH for his invented persona - that he assembled from bits of David Niven, Biggles and The Flashman novels.

Rearrange these letters: bfs

I dont know about 'wind up merchant', but my top line up would be as follows:
For trolling above and beyond the call of duty, ton.
For a sometimes baffling yet well informed political ruck, ernie lynch.
For arguing black is white and occasionally making you end up agreeing with him, SFB.
For an intuitive and well informed row about health care provision - TJ.
For calling people a nazi co*kmonkey when youve run out of arguments - me.Posted 2 years ago # -
none of the above...

TJ

rude or smee - but is smee just obnoxious?
Posted 2 years ago # -
I nominated TJ for his informative views albeit very funny but most importantly for those who celebrate singing, listening to music and the active engagement in celebrity worshiping as a form of relaxation ... They are all shite! Shite! Shite!

SFB for his invented persona- that he assembled from bits of........ooh,errr.....****! (Epic fail!}

Anyone who is politically correct beyond reality. And there's a lot of em on here (but their names aren't worth remembering).

er, language failure. Only one of them can be the best.
SFB for his invented persona
Oi! This is me - I'm just the same in real life but noisier

No, he's lovely Smee is. How long is his ban this time anyway?Posted 2 years ago # -
This thread is just going to turn into a ego stroke-fest for those mentioned. Giving props for being 'wind-up merchants' is like catnip to the buggers.

I'm hoping it's DezB, otherwise private security is going to cost me a small fortune.

CFH's a good wind up merchant though...and he takes as good as he gives which is an essential ingredient.

I am honoured to be mentioned
I don't always aim to be a wind up but I do enjoy a debate. I very rarely make posts just to get a reaction but when I have a view that conflicts with the majority view it is quite fun to state that view.
I do try to be positive. What I really dislike is the people who make negative postings attacking people constantly - that is irritating to me. I very rarely make personal attacks ( except SFB who really gets my goat sometimes - sorry SFB)
I think it is absolutely right that we remember "live by the sword and die by it"

don't worry TJ I take it as a compliment :o)

Beer.
Scruff is worthy of a mention, even though I sometimes get the feeling he is typing with a wand.

Smee simply owns you guys.
Posted 2 years ago # -
A little bit of wee just came out when you mentioned Smee - not sure if it was due to terror or excitement.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Probably incontinence.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I was coughing at the time, so you may be right...
Posted 2 years ago # -
TJ and SFB usually. Smee / Glupton / Hora are all pretty much up there too!
(im amazed Hora hasn't been mentioned yet!)Posted 2 years ago # -
sfb; the recent shimano post a prime example.
Ernie L; resident Marxist, and pretty clever.
Smee; what is he banned for this time?
TJ/Hora/Ton; Shout a lot, but not that effective, must try harder.
Hainey, just for how much he has wound up all the scientists over on the global warming thread.
I miss rudeboy mind, and pedalthread(and his inbred)Posted 2 years ago # -
SFB
I both despise and quite like him at the same time.
Biggest ego... there can only be one winner...

There's a difference between a good-wind up merchant (ton, binners, scruff, etc.) who light the fire and occasionally fan the flames and the political correspondants (CFH, TJ, Ernie and Deadly) who seem to enjoy genuine debate. Then there's sfb who begs the question "Why?"
Posted 2 years ago # -
Looking back through some old threads it seems that many of these top wind up merchants seem to get a little wound up themselves?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Hora's not a wind up merchant, he's just a mentalist..... In the best possible way, of course.
Posted 2 years ago # -
"Smee; what is he banned for this time?"
Rearing up at mastiles fanylion about babies not sleeping, then (repeatedly) repeated himself when the mods tried warning him off.Posted 2 years ago # -
Ernie is very good imho. very clever, like a clever fly fisherman.
