Pie, chips and gravy in a barm. Ta.

Went to a chippie near Wakefield the other week. The had a notice up saying that they were unable to put gravy or curry on a chip barm for safety reasons.

I enquired as to whether there'd been a spate of horrific gravy-related accidents, but just got a funny look. Mind you, this was in Yorkshire so it'd have been hard not to get one.

If its Oldham, its a chip muffin.

Not a bap, barm cake, tea cake or any other form of round bread.

It's a teacake.

Muffins are done in the oven bottom and are denser.

Easy mistake to make though.

No, that's a fruit teacake, as opposed to a plain one.

I think you'll find muffin is actually a verb.

If that's true, Muffin The Mule is an arrestable offence.

Gentlemen, its Oldham, and its a muffin.

It's one of the few things I know for sure. It's also one of the few things one can offer a lady after closing time which is most likely to lead to you giving her a seeing too up against the bins behind C&A.

Seriously, I've done these things so you don't have to.
