Looking for a pair of sturdy waterproof trousers for off road use in bad conditions. Aware of the alturas, but any other recommendations folks?

    Cheers in advance

Sorry but you’ve already given the answer for cheapness and durability/waterproofness.

I keep looking at the Madison ones, but not bought them as yet.

The £33 Tenn ones (through themselves, amazon.co.uk, some online bike shops) are especially good for the money. Mesh lined too so you’ve not got waterproof material rubbing on your legs
May only be 5k/5k waterproof/breathability but leagues ahead of my £70 in 2008 ‘boil in a bag make you feel ill’ Alturas that fit worse than my £15 army goretex’s
I think they’re from the UK, far east made obviously

I like the look of the tenn ones here.

I have some of their other stuff and it’s good quality and great value

I’ve got the Tenn ones and they are quite good but do feel a little flimsy (although they’ve lasted me since last winter)
I’m gonna give THESE[/url] a go next but not sure that the qualify as that cheap

Endura MT500 II trousers got a good review on pinkbike a while back. Not cheap but that wasn’t a criteria.

I just use the cheapest walking ones I could find, 5.99 Regatta ones I think.

Stick them over a normal set of shorts and you’re fine, was worried that they’d be a bit boil in the bag but I was far warmer and sweatier in my breathable jacket than my non-breathable trousers.
