As per the title really, can’t find one to buy and going to do a brake service at the weekend. Anyone got any pointers?

LBS is likely to have loads floating around from brakesets installed. You can service brakes without them anyhow.

If it’s the new style xt brakes could you tell me how you bled them and how easy it was?

new style XTs are a piece of piss to bleed… get yourself the bleed funnel (you can buy them from the link I posted up there, or I got mine from CRC).

Absolute doddle… just follow the instructions that come with the funnel. Probably the easiest brakes I’ve ever bled.

    That’s great. Thank you.

They are the older style, so no funnel required. It’s the syringe and tubes for me.

Looking at the how to guides, it does look very easy though.

The instructions recommend a syringe too, but you don’t *need* one – I bled mine without (including fitting a complete new hose from dry) and I managed fine.
