    Could it be that £15 billion has been wasted on useless capital projects because Government half-wits calculate estimates on the back of fag packets?

    I love the way Cameron says it will reduce the north south divide – when its only going to Birmingham.

    Its a stupid idea.

    there was a program on R4 the other week about the MOD.

    They have what’s called a ‘culture of optimism’ – they’ll put a price on a project based on the best possible case just so they can get it signed off – often with little input from the people who will be buildign the ships or whatever.

    They had an Admiral ont here saying ‘Well, if we said how much we really thought it would really cost it wouldn’t get built and we know we need it.’

    That IS the north/south divide. Any further north than that is a scary place, full of pie eating blokes with beards.
