*one way bike ride just opposite
*suggest phone check also some for sales on google, bit chintsy but brekkie with deer in the garden – food was ok, home cooking

*out of way, niche, not upmarket, great views, nice pub but a fair/wee long bit away, good brekkie, didn’t try evening meal

I wouldn’t stay at the Kinlochbervie hotel again.

Glendhu bothy is but a short cycle from the road. As is Suileag. Staying in a hotel merely isolates you from the countryside and can cause exercise avoidance.

I appreciate this response only loosely addresses the ‘accommodation’ side of your question.

*Edit – you can also pitch a tent – just being helpful you understand.*

The Forest Way bunkhouse and B&B http://www.forestway.co.uk/

Lovely place and run by a pal of mine (that’s not the only reason I’m recommending it though).

I stayed at the Forest Way a couple of weeks ago. Splendid indeed. I’ve not used hotels in that area, bunkhouses and camping only I’m afraid.

The Ferry Boat Inn in Ullapool is a “real” pub with rooms. Great views if you get a front-facing room too. Food is usually excellent, with decent portions – you might even get Ostrich.

If your ‘that way’, stay at the Crask Inn. A very unusual experience…… During dinner service, the owners dissapeared into the kitchen to butcher a stag with a hatchet and hacksaw…. 😯

The Ceilidh Place in Ullapool. Spent part of my honeymoon there. Doesn’t feel like a hotel at all (in a good way, the food is fantastic and the book shop is great.

I think the Kylesku is closed at this time of the year….as are lots of places obviously.

Second the Ceillidh Place, I can certainly vouch for the food.

    In Ullapool:

The Ceilidh Place is very nice/chilled, great food too.
The Caledonian was grubby/tired – not recommended!
The Royal Hotel is quite nice although reminded me of The Shining when I was there last Jan/Feb(understandably very quiet).
